LeapFive was invited to visit and conduct research at

the Three Gorges energy Qingyun energy storage power station

 

 

 

To cooperate with the construction of the new power system of the State Grid, experts from the State Grid and Guangdong LeapFive Technology Co., Ltd. braved the spring rain to visit the Three Gorges New Energy Qingyun Energy Storage Power Station in Qingyun County, Dezhou City, Shandong Province. The power station is one of the first seven energy storage demonstration projects in Shandong Province, built by China Three Gorges New Energy (Group) Co. The experts focused on the comprehensive sensing technology of equipment with diverse states under the scenario of power source-grid-load-storage, promoting the transformation of intelligent power grid into a smart grid.

The Phase I project of the Qingyun Energy Storage Power Station in Three Gorges New Energy covers an area of 30 acres, with an operational capacity of 100 megawatt-hours. It can annually absorb one hundred million kilowatt-hours of new energy electricity and effectively reduce the consumption of standard coal by 12,300 tons and the emissions of carbon dioxide by 36,000 tons. The “Super Power Bank,” consisting of 32 energy storage containers, and a boosting transformer are arranged in four rows. Each container is equipped with the most advanced liquid-cooled lithium iron phosphate battery, while supporting the construction of perfluorocarbon fire extinguishing system, prefabricated fire pump room and other facilities to maximize the protection of energy storage power station.

The technical expert of the power station provided a detailed explanation of the overall situation and system composition of the power station, as well as led the team to visit the interior of the station, focusing on explaining the details of the lithium battery storage cabinet, PCS system, BMS system, EMS system, and voltage and inverter system to the visiting experts.

Through visiting to the first-line field station of energy storage power station, the experts have a new cognition of the current status of energy storage power station. With the needs of social development, the national installed capacity of energy storage is growing at a high rate, of which lithium batteries are the main form of energy storage. The advantages of lithium batteries are flexible deployment and rapid response, but at the same time, there are problems such as high failure rate of battery packs, lack of early and accurate sensing of faults, and short performance effect, which bring great hidden dangers and obstacles to energy storage safety and operation and maintenance.

Guangdong LeapFive Technology has been focusing on IoT and intelligent sensing based on RISC-V architecture. Combining battery management system and data security technology, the company has realized single-point and wireless networking of battery pack and battery cell data monitoring and management, which provides comprehensive sensing, protection and control of data including charging and discharging status, battery temperature and cell performance, and collaborates with cloud-based integrated management. At the same time, LeapFive Technology has also introduced blockchain technology to encrypt battery data on the cloud and on the chain, thus realizing the functions of state tracking, intelligent protection, and history tracing of energy storage batteries from a single point to the system.
